This policy explains how Andrew Petersen (“I,” “me,” or “this website”) handles information when you visit andrewpetersen.tech.

Information this website handles

This is a static portfolio website. It does not have accounts, a contact form, or a database that stores information you enter.

If you choose an email link, your device opens your email application. Any information you include in a message is sent through your email provider to me; this website does not receive or store the message. The hosting provider may process technical request information to deliver and secure the website.

Google Analytics

If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics 4 (provided by Google) measures visits and how people use the site. Until you accept, the analytics script is not loaded and no analytics cookies are set. Google’s advertising features, including Google signals, are turned off.

Analytics events include:

Page views, including navigation between pages.
Clicks on the email and LinkedIn contact links, recorded by contact method and the location of the link on the page.
Clicks to open a case study, recorded by the case-study slug.

Google Analytics may also process information such as page address, browser and device details, referring source, and interactions collected by the Analytics property’s enabled measurement settings. The event information this website sends does not include the contents of email messages or your email address; it includes only the event details listed above.

Google Analytics sets two cookies on this site: _ga, used to distinguish visitors, and _ga_GYQ4EW7235, used to keep session state. Both expire after 2 years by default, and some browsers delete them sooner. Google processes information under its own policies; see Google’s Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. Analytics data retention is governed by the settings for this website’s Google Analytics property.

Your choices

On your first visit, a banner asks whether to allow analytics cookies. Accepting and declining are equally easy, and the site works the same either way. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings in the site footer or the button below. If you withdraw consent, Google Analytics stops collecting right away and its cookies are deleted for this site. Data collected before then is kept according to the retention settings described above.

Your cookie choice, and any display settings you change, are saved in your browser’s local storage so the site remembers them. They stay on your device and are not sent to me or to Google. You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser settings or use Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
